Galaxy S23 and Galaxy S24 will offer Snapdragon chips only globally, No Exynos!

Updated: May 29, 2022

Recently we heard that Samsung wants to build custom Exynos processors for its Galaxy Flagships. This strategy might remind you of Apple. Apple designs its A-series chips for the latest iPhone models. This strategy works really well for them.

According to Naver (via SamMobile), Samsung is so focused on this strategy that they want to dedicate their time on designing these custom Exynos chips for the Galaxy Flagships rather than producing new high-end Exynos chips for next years ( 2023 and 2024). This means that the Galaxy S23 and Galaxy S24 models would use only Qualcomm Snapdragon chipset Globally. Usually U.S., Canada, Taiwan, and China are only few markets where Galaxy Flagships are powered by the latest Qualcomm Snapdragon chipset.

This year apple is switching thing up a little bit, Apple is reportedly going to reuse the A15 Bionic chips used inside iPhone 13 series and will use the A16 Bionic inside the pro models which will be built using the 3nm process node.

Samsung in terms of smartphone chips, seems to be a slow learner. They have tried to reinvent themselves with the launch of the Exynos 2100 chip. But now they are learning that raw power isn’t everything, optimization is equally or even more important for both day-to-day performance and efficiency.

@UniverseIce said the same thing. The dedicated chipset being designed by Samsung will not be exclusive for the Galaxy S Flagships, they might also be offered inside the company's foldable handsets. But when you talk about efficiency, you need to keep in mind that Samsung foundry will build these chips. Samsung Foundry isn’t very well known for their efficient SoCs. On top of all that it was discovered that only 35% of chips built by Samsung using its 4nm process node were able to pass quality control. Which is really bad. So Samsung has a lot of background works to do first before they do launch a Galaxy Flagship powered by custom made Exynos Processor with bold claims.
