Google Pixel Fold 5G might feature a disappointing camera setup
Updated: Nov 11, 2021
If you are thinking that the rumored Google Pixel Fold will use the same camera setup found in the Pixel 6 Pro, well you will be disappointed.
According to 9to5Google, the Pixel Fold might not have enough space to fit Samsung GN1 sensor as a main sensor
That’s the reason google will use the 12.2MP IMX363 which has been the Pixel's main sensor since the Pixel 3 and also 12MP IMX386 sensor for the ultra-wide-angle camera. The 12MP IMX386 included the word "Folded" with the code which might mean it will be useable when folded. Maybe!
there’s also presence of two 8MP IMX355 sensors, one listed as "inner" and the other as "outer." It’s pretty much simply two selfie cameras, one on the outside screen, one inside the foldable display more like the Galaxy Z Fold 2. For your kind information this sensor is used inside the Pixel 6 too as a selfie camera. So the pixel fold will have the same kinda camera output.
The Google Camera app also makes a reference that reads "isPixel2022Foldable." This just openly showing when the Pixel Fold is coming. The device is expected to feature 7.6-inch main screen and a outer screen like Galaxy Z Fold 3 and both of the displays will have 120Hz refresh rate support.
The pixel fold will come with Android 12L software which is an updated variant of android 12 OS focused on mainly foldables and tablets experience.
As for the processor the pixel fold might also feature Google Tensor Chip which is powering the recently launched Google Pixel 6 and the Pixel 6 Pro.
The Android 12 L will come around early next year, so you can expect the Google Pixel Fold to hit the market at the same time.
