Here's our first glimpse at the Pixel 7a, Google's mid-range smartphone for 2023.
Updated: Dec 21, 2022
Customers will once again be able to get a high-quality smartphone with an excellent photography system for less money thanks to Google's image processing software on the upcoming mid-range Pixel 7a model. Additionally, according to earlier speculations, the phone will sport a 13MP IMX712 camera on the back and a 64MP Sony IMX787 sensor. Another report claims that the Pixel 7a will have a 90Hz refresh rate (compared to the old-school 60Hz display found on the Pixel 6a).
A render of the Pixel 7a was just shared by Onleaks and Smartprix, and from the back, it resembles the Pixel 7 too much while being a bit more smaller. Even if the front bezels are bigger, the selfie camera inside the punch hole in the centre is still present. The display measures 6.14 inches in height.
The Google Tensor 2 SoC, which also powers the Pixel 7 and Pixel 7 Pro, will be found inside. Thats the best part.
Additionally, we anticipate the Qualcomm WCN6740 Wi-Fi Bluetooth chip to be found in the Pixel 7a, making it the first Tensor-equipped smartphone with qualcomm Wi-Fi chip. The Pixel 7a won't be available until sometime in 2023, for comparison the Pixel 6a was released in July 2022. Although the rumour mill is pushing for the unveiling of the Pixel Fold during that conference (which is scheduled to take place next May), the 2023 Google I/O developer conference may be a viable opportunity to unveil the gadget.
It will receive five years of security patches in addition to three Android updates (to Android 14, 15, and 16). If google keeps the price right, then it will again be a hit. Just one thing that i’m hoping google will provide is wireless charging.
