Apple's upcoming iPhone 15 series has been a hot topic of discussion among tech enthusiasts, and various rumors have surfaced about the features and pricing of the new phones. One of the most exciting rumor is about the hybrid lens technology that the iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max are expected to feature. Also these iPhones will be the first global smartphones to use this technology. The primary Wide camera lenses on these devices will be made of one glass element and six plastic elements, allowing them to capture 15%-20% more light than their predecessors. This will significantly improve the image quality, especially in low-light environments, and make it also easier to achieve the natural bokeh effect.

The iPhone 16 Pro Max is also rumored to feature a primary Wide camera made up of eight elements, consisting of two glass elements and six plastic elements. Additionally, the telephoto and ultra-wide cameras of the iPhone 16 Pro Max may feature five and six-element hybrid lenses supplied by Sunny Optical Technology. These new cameras are expected to further enhance the already impressive camera capabilities of the iPhone. Finally, the camera sensor on the iPhone 15 series is also expected to be a major upgrade. The iPhone 15 and 15 Plus are rumored to feature a 48MP main camera with a smaller 1/1.5 inches sensor compared to the current iphone 14 pro max's 48MP 1/1.28" sensor, while the iPhone 15 Pro and Pro Max will stick with the same 48MP Sony sensor as the current model but with other improvements such as a hybrid lens design and a larger aperture. The Pro models might also feature a titanium frame, and the iPhone 15 Pro Max is expected to have a periscope zoom system capable of zooming up to 6x up from 3x telephoto of the current Pro Max. These improvements are expected to make the iPhone 15 Pro and Pro Max some of the best camera phones of 2023.

Another exciting rumor is about the "Action Button" of iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max which will replace the traditional Mute switch. According to MacRumors, the iOS 17 beta 4 code suggests that this button will provide quick access to various functions and settings without the need to unlock the device or navigate through apps. Users may be able to customize and assign nine different options to the Action button, including Accessibility, Shortcuts, Silent Mode, Camera, Flashlight, Focus, Magnifier, Translate, and Voice Memos. While some users may miss the satisfying Mute switch, the Action button could provide more convenience and possibilities for iPhone users. By the way this button is actually a pressure and touch sensitive solid state button. It doesn’t have the depressing mechanism in it. But that will be taken care by the Taptic engine. It will simulate the real life button press feel. As for the pricing of the iPhone 15 series, Barclay's Tim Long expects Apple to raise the price of the iPhone 15 Pro and the iPhone 15 Pro Max starting at $1,099 and$1,199 or $1,299 respectively. That’s a raise of $100 for the pro model and $100 to $200 for the pro max model over the current models. He also believes that the periscope lens will add $50 more to the bill of materials for the iPhone 15 Pro Max. However, pricing for the non-Pro iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus is expected to remain the same, with starting prices of $799 and $899 for the bigger Plus model. Now outside US the currents models are also a lot more costly than the 13 models. So This was kinda expected.

In conclusion, the iPhone 15 series is shaping up to be a significant upgrade over its predecessors, with new features such as hybrid lens technology, dynamic island on all models, thinner bezels, the Action Button on the pro models, improved camera capabilities, and the biggest one USB-C port. However, the higher pricing of the iPhone 15 Pro and Pro Max may cause some hesitation among potential buyers. Despite the rumors of production issues and delayed release, the iPhone 15 series is expected to be unveiled in September, and we can't wait to see what Apple has in store for us.
