LG Display will make iPhone 15 Pro's LTPO OLED displays

The Elec, a new South Korean newspaper, has reported that LG Display would boost its supply share of LTPO OLED panels for the iPhone 15 Pro series. LG may have learnt its lesson this time around because it has already increased the number of LTPO OLED displays it can produce, which will enable it to supply Apple with enough panels for both the iPhone 15 Pro and the iPhone 15 Pro Max. If this occurs, it might seriously affect Samsung Display's share of the iPhone 15 Pro line panel production this year, since the iPhone 14 Pro and Pro Max now account for 60% of the 2022 iPhone family's sales.

To be clear, if LG Display follows their strategy and acquires Apple's iPhone 15 series display orders, it may threaten Samsung Display's supply chain exclusivity over Apple's OLED panels. The less sophisticated LTPS 60Hz displays for the iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus will be provided by Samsung. Overall, Samsung will continue to dominate the Apple display supply chain this year, although it will have less of an influence on high-end devices.
