Pete Lau assured users that ColorOS will run smoothly on OnePlus devices

Updated: Dec 30, 2021

OnePlus has merged operations with sister company Oppo but they maintained their own branding and collaborations. But the biggest differentiator till recently was that both OnePlus and Oppo shipped their devices with distinctly different Android skins. But in September this year, OnePlus confirmed that they will ship their future devices and update the existing supported devices to Oppo’s ColourOS skin.

This has led to a massively buggy experience for OnePlus users and the company CEO and co-founder Pete Lau addressed these concerns in a Weibo post (via Gizmochina).

OnePlus devices had HydrogenOS in china. That too will is dead now.

The idea was to create an unified skin that was fast, smooth like OxygenOS, and feature-rich like ColorOS. OnePlus 9 got OxygenOS 12 update recently it was too much buggy, it was mostly disliked by the OG OnePlus users because it has nothing of OxygenOS. Then the update was momentarily halted to fix the bugs.

Now Pete Lau has now acknowledged that upgrading older OnePlus devices to the new unified platform has resulted in system-related issues and has assured fans that OnePlus is working hard to ensure a smooth and snappy experience as they have promised. But will that make OG OnePlus fans happy? Probably never.
