Exynos 2200 with AMD GPU beats Apple A14 Bionic in graphics performance
Samsung had already announced that Exynos processor with AMD’s Radeon GPU coming soon. While the company didn’t reveal what kind of performance improvement or any kinda comparison. it was rumored that it will be better than the A14 Bionic. Now, here’s a proof.
According to tipster Ice Universe, Samsung is currently testing an Exynos chipset with the AMD Radeon GPU and Cortex-A77 CPU cores. He posted a screenshot of the 3DMark graphics benchmarking app.
Exynos with AMD GPU have scored 8,134 points in the Wild Life test with an average frame rate of 50fps. Where as the iPhone 12 Pro Max’s A14 Bionic chipset did around 7,442 points with an average frame rate of 40fps.
Keep this in mind that this is a early test still.
we don’t know what’s the thermal performance of the AMD GPU would be like under heavy load and how much it could throttle but its still good to see a proper competitor from the android side in the GPU department. Also the consumer grade version of this exynos chipset could offer even better performance as it might feature latest ARM’s Cortex-X2 and Cortex-A710 CPU cores that are much better than the Cortex-A77 cores used here. Probably that’s why ice universe specifically mentioned the cpu cores.
But it’s still smartphone chip, even though we have heard it will power some Samsung laptops.
And it clearly is not as powerful as Apple’s M1 5nm chipset that is used in the latest iPad Pro (2021) or new iMac. But it’s very clear samsung is targeting apple’s m1 chipset as well. It will debut on galaxy s22 series. If you don’t know some of vivo devices will also be powered by this chipset. Isn’t it crazy!
