Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 may be produced by TSMC too

Just Last week, Qualcomm announced its flagship chipset, the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1.

The new SoC is built on Samsung’s 4nm processes, but it appears that Samsung may be having some production issues, and Qualcomm may not be happy with Samsung’s yields, and on top of that Samsung might not be able to meet with Qualcomms demands. That’s why Qualcomm may be shifting part of it’s snapdragon 8 Gen1 chip production over to TSMC.

The new Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 is more power-efficient, fast, and comes with huge improvements over its predecessor. Because it’s a premium chipset made for the top of the line Android smartphones, that’s why Qualcomm is trying to ensure that production goes well for the Snapdragon 8 Gen1 SoC.

But that also brings another thing into the equation, performance difference. Two different manufacturing companies could have a negative effect on the uniformity of the chipsets at least in the performance sector.

TSMC is also known to build more efficient chipsets, compared to Samsung. Back in 2015 the iPhone 6s has two different A9 processors, one manufactured by TSMC and one by Samsung.

But those two had not so much difference. So in the case of Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 there might not be any significant difference at all
