Samsung has unveiled a brand new Exynos chip, W920
Samsung has unveiled a brand new Exynos W920 processor—made for Next-gen wearable devices. The Exynos W920 will debut inside the Galaxy Watch 4 and the Galaxy Watch 4 Classic. The company claims that this will be the first-ever smartwatch SoC built using vastly superior the 5nm fabrication process.
The Exynos W920 features two ARM Cortex-A55 CPU cores and the ARM Mali-G68 GPU for fast performance with high efficiency. Samsung claims that this new chipset provides 20% CPU performance and 10x better GPU performance compared to its predecessor the Exynos 9110 which was launched 3 years back.
Let me tell you, the CPU cores are the same cores that we have inside flagship chip Snapdragon 888, that are used for low-power tasks.
For always on display, Samsung has included a specifically designed Cortex-M55 processor. It will only handle the quick glance stuffs.
The Exynos W920’s GPU can handle displays with up to qHD resolution (960 x 540 pixels).The SoC will also have a 4G LTE modem built in. It also comes integrated with GNSS (Global Navigation Satellite System), Wi-Fi b/g/n, and Bluetooth 5.0.
Samsung has also clearly stated that the Exynos W920 will be powering the next Wear OS devices. Its the OS that google built with Samsung. We don’t have to wait long to see it in action.
