Samsung will dominate foldable smartphone market even in 2023 according to Counterpoint
The foldable smartphones are still not mainstream devices and that’s why the smartphone market is still small, but according Counterpoint Research the demand will skyrocket over the coming years.
In 2020 Around 3 million foldable smartphones were shipped while in 2021 it is expected to reach to 9 million units. Samsung has around 88% share of the foldable smartphone market thanks to the Z series foldables.
According to Counterpoint Research a similar theme will continue throughout next year and the foldable smartphone shipment will reach to 30 million units by 2023. Just crazy 10x compared to the foldable shipments of 2020. Samsung is predicted to continue be the top player with an expected market share of 75% in 2023.
In 2023/2024 apple will introduce foldable iPhone which will be the point, from where it will be hard for Samsung to dominate with that huge amount of market share.
Samsung is also aware of the upcoming competition, they are trying to make this year’s Galaxy Z Fold 3 & Z Flip 3 cheaper to make them affordable.
