Qualcomm recently revealed the Snapdragon 888 Plus - an overclocked version of the Snapdragon 888.
The chip is manufactured using Samsung’s 5nm LPE process. It’s true successor, which could be named Snapdragon 895, will be announced later this year and per a new leak, it will be manufactured on a slightly more advanced node.
According to the popular leakster Ice Universe (@UniverseIce), the Snapdragon 895 chipset will use
Samsung’s 4nm chip fabrication process.
Since most of TSMC’s 5nm foundry capacity is said to be occupied by Apple for its A15 and M1X chipsets and on top of that Apple’s next-gen iPad Pro chipset using its 4nm process is also going to be manufactured by TSMC, which means Samsung Foundry is the only option.
The Snapdragon 895 chipset is rumored to feature the Kryo 780 CPU cores based on ARM’s recently-announced Cortex-X2, Cortex-A710, and Cortex-A510 CPU cores. It could also use the Adreno 730 GPU, an integrated Snapdragon X65 5G modem, and support for quad-channel LPDDR5 RAM.
4nm process node will be a further evolution of 5nm process node and it will enable a 6 percent smaller die area. That only means better performance and lesser power consumption.
