Sony's long-rumored record breaking smartphone camera sensor is coming soon

Tipster Digital Chat Station (via GSM Arena) who was very reliable in the past, posted a new leak regarding a massive smartphone camera sensor.
According to Digital Chat Station, phone manufacturers are now testing the Sony Exmor IMX800 which is a massive 1/1.1 inches 50MP camera sensor. That means it’s slightly larger than Samsung's 50MP 1/1.12 inch GN2 sensor. For more better comparison this Sony IMX800 would be the largest smartphone camera sensor in the industry as of now.
The more megapixels doesn’t always mean a better camera sensor. But a larger camera sensor means the more light it can capture which improves the sharpness of an image, less noise, and better natural bokeh. Last year's Xiaomi Mi 11 Ultra sports Samsung's 50MP GN2 camera sensor. This year the the Xiaomi 12 Ultra will be the first phone to feature Sony's rumored new sensor.
Even though google pixel phones showcased the whole industry that not everything is the megapixel count or larger sensor size but a great processing algorithm is very important. But that too can go so far. It has its own limitations. That’s where the larger sensors come into play. Bigger Smartphones sensors with great algorithm will help the camera output by a lot for the upcoming smartphones. What’s more exciting is that even the upcoming iPhone 14 Pros will feature 48MP main sensor with special apple touch. Competition is always great.
