The Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 used by Samsung will have an overclocked CPU GPU manufactured by Samsung
Updated: Dec 21, 2022

Ice Universe previously stated that the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 will be a "exclusive high-frequency version" for the European market.
Now the leaker provides more information, confirming that the Prime CPU core will in fact run at 3.36GHz rather than 3.2GHz. But the GPU will also operate at a greater speed, 719MHz as opposed to 680MHz.
Periodically, Qualcomm has launched "AC" versions that have faster clock speeds than the base processor. For instance, the Snapdragon 855 has the model number SM8150, and the 855+, which increased the Prime core's speed from 2.84GHz to 2.96GHz, has the model number SM8150-AC. This should be the SM8550-AC since the 8 Gen 2 that was unveiled this week is the SM8550-AB.
It's unclear if the Snapdragon 8+ Gen 2 moniker will apply to this processor, which is destined for the Galaxy S23 series. However, it appears that Qualcomm and TSMC were able to find sufficient space for a reasonable overclock.
According to official statistics from Qualcomm, the GPU is 25% quicker and the 8 Gen 2 CPU is 35% faster than its 8 Gen 1 cousin. This new chip version should be significantly quicker given the overclock to both. However, it is difficult to determine how much faster because benchmark results should not be interpreted just yet.
Except for the U.S., Canada, and China, Samsung has often used its own Exynos CPUs to power the Galaxy S line. However, it appears that many Galaxy S purchasers weren't pleased with forking over top prices for devices they believed were powered by a subpar Exynos SoC.
It seems that Samsung Foundry will produce the chip design with an overclock for use in its own smartphones. There are two variants of the chipset, according to a tweet from Twitter tipster RGcloudS. Samsung makes version AB using its 4nm LPE process, whereas TSMC makes version AC using its N4P fabrication mode.
The Galaxy S23 Ultra is anticipated to have a 200MP camera on the back, powered by a brand-new 200MP image processor by Samsung. This is not the Sammy HP1 ISOCELL 200MP image sensor found in the Xiaomi 12T Pro and Motorola X30 Ultra.
